education in schools

October 6, 2009

Teaching about Domestic Violence should begin early, at home. In households where this would put a parent in a dangerous situation, schools should pick up the ‘slack.’ It has recently come to my attention that my daughters’ high school principal, will not allow the schools’ orchestra to use Domestic Violence as this years fundraiser theme. “It might hit too close to home for some children,” he says. Well, what if it does? Maybe if the younger generation were exposed to what the older generation so conveniently covers up, they would learn that it is wrong, and that it is okay to tell somebody. We,as a whole, judicial system included, can’t seem to either acknowledge, or take any effective action on D.V. Innocent people die on a daily bases. Why can’t the teenagers, and even the younger cildren be given a chance to see-’both sides’? Perhaps, the world could be a more peaceful,& safe place to be.

I am a survivor of abuse, both physical, and mental. I would like to hear from anybody who cares about, and wants to help those who haven’t yet, and need to- “escape.”  There is another life out here. It’s not perfect, but is a far cry from where I once was. Visit me @www.abusednomors.com.
